Iris is a scholar & mentor in the fields of full spectrum cycle & sexual well-being, feminine health and empowerment. She created her company ‘Cycle Seeds’ to bridge the gaps that still exist between the fields of modern knowledge and ancient wisdom. For her, it is not one or the other, the power lies in weaving both together to create full-spectrum understanding of well-being.
She aims to provide practical tools, knowledge and information on reproductive and over-all healing & health. Her main focuses are the menstrual cycle, natural contraception and tending to the fertility, pregnancy, birth and postpartum continuum. Her background lies in medical & cultural anthropology (BSc), gender studies (MA), (hormone & women’s) yoga, dance, breath work, doula care and pelvic health education (Birthlight).
To her Motherheart feels like the missing link in tending for the feminine continuum. When she saw Asha’s vision for Motherheart, she felt a full-blown YES in her body. Motherheart is down-to-earth and inclusive, and doesn’t believe in one sole vision. It blends the knowledge and wisdom from various women and mothers, to create a new paradigm of well-being, and this is exactly what her vision has been for the cycles of a woman’s life.
During her Bachelor’s research in cultural/medical anthropology in South India she witnessed birth for the first time. Raw, real, back to the bare basics in this tiny village. This is when she fell in love with birth and the power of the female body. Right after, she did a doula training and started working for herself, guiding women and their partners on this intimate journey of becoming and unbecoming. Moms are her superheroes and the reason she honors Life so deeply.
Her advice in times of turmoil is to first withdraw, sit with yourself, and talk kindly to your fear and insecurity, welcoming it all. When she has a hard time embracing it, she reaches out to friends or family to share what is bothering her. She highly values her ‘village’ around me (whether it is physical or online) to whom she can reach out when she is not feeling great. If she could tell her younger self something it would be: dear woman, you are enough. You are fierce and beautiful and magnificent. The world needs you and all that you stand for. Believe in yourself, and trust your vision and your inner knowing.
